Hi folks, this is Maggie from Dawa Magnet.
Today I would like to discuss sweat test for magnet because I found the market is increasingly interested in this requirement.
Before everything, what is sweat test?
The sweat test for magnets is designed to simulate how human sweat might corrode the surface of a magnet over time. This is especially important for products like wearable devices, earbuds, or medical equipment that come into direct contact with the skin. If the magnet’s surface protection isn’t strong enough, it could rust or lose performance after long exposure to sweat.
For the test, we use an artificial sweat solution. The pH is adjusted to around 4.5 to 8.0, depending what you need, to match the slightly acidic nature of human sweat. The magnets are then placed in a desinated temperature environment, and kept there for 24 to 72 hours. Common test requirements from our clients are ph4.6 or 8.0, 55℃ and 48 hours.
After the test, we evaluate two main aspects:
- Are there any signs of rust, peeling, or discoloration?
- Has the magnet lost strength or shown any other changes?
If a magnet passes the sweat test, it shows that its surface treatment is reliable and suitable for real-world use.
